The K-State Libraries’ map collection is primarily composed of maps issued by U.S. government agencies. The collection is especially strong in U.S. topographic maps of various scales, geologic and national forest maps, and maps of Kansas. Coverage at the international level is scattered and dated with the exception of political maps issued by the U.S. Central Intelligence Agency. Only a small percentage of the maps are cataloged. Topographic maps are arranged by scale, state, and quadrangle name for easy use. Other maps may require staff assistance to locate. The atlas collection consists of commercially published volumes covering the United States, numerous foreign countries, and special topics. This collection is cataloged and can be accessed using the library’s online catalog. The map and atlas collections are located on the east end of Hale Library’s third floor.
