Rare Books at Kansas State University Libraries

Special Collections Research Room, from the back

The Rare Books Department provides resources to student and faculty researchers of Kansas State University, and visiting scholars with books, pamphlets, manuscripts and other documents. To fulfill this mission the department collects, maintains, preserves, and makes available for use books, pamphlets, ephemera, and other materials which are considered rare, unique, or in some way extraordinary.

Instructors wishing to utilize materials from the Rare Books Department for class study may schedule such meetings with the Rare Books Librarian.

The Rare Books Department is currently focusing on improving its holdings of books about the history of Kansas, particularly pre-statehood documents and county/local histories.

All cataloged holdings are represented in the Online Catalog. Please see Rules for Use for usage policy.
