What is a Library Database?
Who has access privileges?
Currently enrolled students, faculty, and staff, with a valid eID (electronic ID), have access privileges to K-State Libraries' digital library, e-journals and online databases. Off-campus users will be prompted for their eID and password to access online resources. Many K-State resources require eIDs to validate affiliation with K-State.

Why limit access to online databases and e-journals?
Publishers and database providers require universities to sign licensing agreements that prohibit access to all but those described above. On rare occasions, a license may restrict use to on-campus only, to a specific building, or to a specific user group. Provisions are made for "walk-ins."

What about Alumni?
Even if it were possible to extend this privilege to alumni, it would require renegotiation of licenses. Also, the price for most databases is based on the number of users. Providing this service to alumni, or other users not affiliated with the University, would increase costs tremendously.

What if I don't have access privileges?
Try checking with public or academic libraries in your community. They may allow walk-in or dial-up use of the specific resources you need.
